Command Line Syntax

You can process STAAD Foundation Advanced input files and set license options for the program via the Windows command line.

Syntax

<path> StaadFoundation.exe [Options] <input_file>

where:

ParameterDescription
<path> the installation path for STAAD Foundation Advanced, which is C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Engineering\STAAD Foundation Advanced\ by default.
Tip: You can add C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Engineering\STAAD Foundation Advanced\ to your Windows PATH environment variable to simply use the command StaadFoundation.
<input_file> the name of the STAAD Foundation Advanced file you want to use as input.
Note: If the input file name includes spaces, you must use quote characters (") around the file name.

Expressions in square brackets (between '[' and ']') are optional, and can take one of the following values if used:

SettingDescription
/Analyze Runs the analysis on the file (.sfa), passed as a parameter, after opening the STAAD Foundation Advanced application.
/Limited Runs STAAD Foundation Advanced with a STAAD.Pro license. You will be able to access only the Isolated Footings, Combined Footings, & Pile Cap modules.
/Advanced Runs STAAD Foundation Advanced with a full STAAD Foundation Advanced license. You can access all the modules of the application.

Example

The following is a simple example which can be run from a directory containing the US examples (i.e., C:\Users\Public\Documents\STAAD Foundation Advanced\Examples\US Code (ACI318-2005 & ACI318-2011)):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\Engineering\STAAD Foundation Advanced\StaadFoundation.exe /Analyze us-general-isolated-foundation-1.sfa
